Website Migration Process Details

Discovery Phase

Discovery phase is all about auditing your website and its content and to collect enough information about your website so that we can plan for website content migration project.

There are four major tasks that we do in this phase, namely;
Web Content quality audit
Web Content Quantity Audit
Web Content Classification and
Analysing future content updates.

The outcome of this phase helps us in determining relastic time cost and scope estimates for the entire website content migration project.

Planning Phase

The Objective of this phase is to put time, cost and scope estimates on paper and get sign off from the Project sponsor. In this phase we decide following things before sign off.
The sequence of actual content migration
Time estimates for migrating each chunk of web content
Time frame and efforts required to make changes in website structure
Human Resource requirements for the actual website content migration tasks
Testing requirements for the project and their timelines
Migration approval process
Migration completion definition

Migration Phase

This phase takes care of actual physical migration of the web content and assets, implmenting new web design if required and implmenting new website technology if desired.

The assumption here is that the website technology is in place and that the new technology is ready to accept new content, meaning the new website design if required is implemented. In most of the cases, if you are using a CMS design and content migration are independent of each other.

Testing phase

In this phase testing of the website migration is carried out based on the testing parameters defined in the planning phase. The focus is on maintaining integrity of web content. Your subject matter experts and technology teams are involved in carrying out testing. The new website is not made live unless, all the testing is complete.

Handover phase

In handover phase, the website is handed over to internal team and madae live after the inetrnal team takes control of the web content.
